Iñigo Tena was born in Bilbao, Spain in 1980. A graduate of fine arts at the University of the Basque Country Tena received his master’s degree in Photography, Art and Technique at Polytechnic University of Valencia.
Awarded with the Guggenheim Bilbao Photography Grant in 2001, Iñigo Tena has exhibited at BilbaoArte, Galeria Espacio in Valencia, La galeria de comercio in Mexico, and The Gabarron Foundation in New York.
Iñigo Tena’s work in conceptual photography explores irony and makes the observer conscious of the society in which we live. His pictures provide social commentary through imagery.
In his current projects, Tena confronts the individual being and social judgments. His express interest is to push people to be more aware of the social roles at play.
